Introduction:

This website was created for an Instructional Technology (ITEC) class project for the spring of 2010 at main campus of Kent State University (KSU).  It will highlight some of my new computer instructional skills I have mastered in the last several months at school.  The website will also serve as the online source for my curriculum vitae (CV), resume and work samples.

It is my first time back to school at Kent State in a long time and things have really changed. For example, no more punch cards to use to program your computer!
Currently, I am enrolled as a full time student for the spring 2010 semester taking seven classes for a total of 18 credit hours.   Not really sure what I was thinking in January when I signed up for all these courses other than I could not afford nor would my grant allow me to spread them out over four or five semesters.  However, I am sure once I conclude my studies this summer and graduate I will be glad this was completed in less than 8 months.

My current studies at KSU are primarily focused in the Instructional Technology (ITEC) program even though I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in
General Studies from the College of Arts and Science.  Furthermore, I will also be able to earn my certificate of Online Teaching and Learning Activities during the same period from the department of Education, Health and Human Services at Kent State University.

Since I have not taken any educational classes at the university level before, I have had to rely on my last 7 years of classroom instructing to assist me in my ITEC course work. I have posted examples from that time period and updated some of them to reflect my new classroom skills. In addition, several new and exciting methods of instructing children  and adult learners are posted.

Robert is very proud to announce that he was chosen to represent the College of Arts and Sciences as the Gonfalon Carrier at the 236th commencement ceremony on August 21, 2010 at 10 am in the Mac Center on the main campus of Kent State University.

Each of the of the 9 college’s at Kent State University chooses a student to represent their college at graduation.  My selection was on the recommendation of Associate Dean E. Timothy Moore and was based on my grades, hard work in and out of the classroom and a never give up attitude to complete my studies. It was a great honor to be selected to carry in the college’s gonfalon and epitomize this graduating class.

This is the one day of school that I will never forget.  First, getting to meet the President of the University, Dr. Lester A. Lefton at his reception for the all the colleges deans, professors and the 9 student gonfalon carriers before the start of the commencement.  After that carrying the gonfalon in to start the ceremony.  Next having a front row seat with the 9 other students for the commencement ceremony. Then to conclude the graduation, Dr. Lefton publicly thanked each one of us personally, by name for being the top student representative for their college and the university!
